ESP32 Module Availability: Confirm Antenna, Memory and Variant

Prepare an ESP32 module RFQ with the exact antenna option, memory configuration, temperature grade, approved firmware and assembly requirements.

An ESP32 module availability request should identify the complete module ordering code, including its antenna and memory variant. “ESP32 module” can describe many products with different footprints, radio capabilities and software targets. The useful purchasing question is whether the exact approved module can be supplied in the required quantity and time frame.

Identify the module rather than the development board

Distinguish a production module from a development board that contains one. A development board may add a USB bridge, voltage regulator and headers that are irrelevant to the module BOM. Use the manufacturer’s module label and ordering information when specifying the production item.

The Espressif ESP32-WROOM-32E and ESP32-WROOM-32UE datasheet separates module variants and includes antenna, memory, dimensions and layout information. Check the exact listed version against the approved design, instead of shortening the request to a familiar family name.

Preserve antenna and firmware requirements

Record whether the enclosure and PCB were designed for the module’s onboard antenna or an external antenna connection. Review the antenna keep-out and the intended antenna assembly before considering another variant. A change in RF configuration can require a review of the product’s existing approvals and validation evidence.

Confirm Flash and PSRAM requirements against the firmware image, partition table and application memory use. Keep the supported SDK target and module revision visible in the procurement record. A module that powers up successfully may still be unsuitable for the production software or required operating temperature.

Make the quotation useful for production

Separate evaluation quantities from production releases and give a required arrival date. Ask for the offered part number, packing format, lot identification and applicable documentation. Confirm that assembly can handle the delivered packaging and the module’s storage and reflow requirements.

If programmed modules are required, specify the image, configuration and test sequence. Identify whether serial numbers or device-specific data must be generated during manufacturing. Do not let those requirements remain implied by a request for a module quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Are ESP32 module names interchangeable across generations?

No. Check radio functions, processor target, memory, pinout, mechanical dimensions and firmware support for the particular module. Similar naming does not establish compatibility.

Does a module approval automatically cover a finished product?

Do not assume it does. Review the applicable module documentation and the finished product’s antenna, enclosure and integration requirements with the responsible compliance team.

Request an ESP32 module quotation from SENICO with the exact ordering code, quantity and required delivery date. Availability and the offered configuration are confirmed in the quotation.
