What the ratings mean for a sourcing decision
Do not use the 50 A headline as a board-level current guarantee. The same document gives a substantially lower ambient-temperature rating under a specified copper-area condition. Compare your PCB, cooling and duty cycle with the datasheet before approving a replacement. Check resistance at the actual gate voltage rather than comparing only a supplier listing’s headline resistance.
Ordering code and alternate review
Retain every character in FDB8453LZ. A similar-looking FDD code, a different suffix or a different package must be reviewed as a separate offered part. Ask for a readable package label and the exact manufacturer ordering code. Engineering should compare pinout, land pattern, gate drive, switching behavior and thermal performance before accepting any alternate; this guide does not approve a drop-in replacement.
